The Dad Your Kids Actually Need

Not the one with all the answers — the one who shows up anyway.

The Dad Your Kids Actually Need

There's a version of fatherhood we chase that doesn't exist — the dad who always knows what to say, never loses his temper, has a Bible verse ready for every situation. That dad is a fiction. Chasing him will only ever produce exhaustion and shame.

What your kids actually need is simpler and harder: a father who shows up. Who's present at the dinner table even after a bad day. Who apologizes when he gets it wrong instead of pretending he didn't. Who keeps showing up on the days it would be easier not to.

Presence beats performance every time. Your kids won't remember whether you had the perfect answer to their questions about God. They'll remember whether you were there — consistently, imperfectly, faithfully there.

That's a standard every father can actually meet. Not perfect. Present.
