Back to Basics: MOGmusic Brings a Night of Pure Worship to Accra
Three hours of worship, praise, prayer, and the Word and entry is free. Here is why MOGmusic’s Back to Basics night on September 25 is worth clearing your evening for.

There's a kind of worship night that has become familiar: the lights, the countdown, the big production, the feeling that you've come to watch something. MOGmusic is inviting Accra to something simpler.
On Friday, September 25, the Ghanaian gospel singer and pastor is gathering worshippers at The Keeper's House in Madina for Back to Basics: A Worship Experience: three hours set aside for worship, praise, prayer and the Word of God. Entry is free. If you plan to attend in person, register here.

Why "back to basics"?
The name says a lot. When the early church was finding its feet, Luke describes what its life actually consisted of and it's a short list:
"They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer." (Acts 2:42, BSB)
No strategy deck, no programme with ten moving parts. Teaching, fellowship, bread, and prayer. The basics.
It's easy to drift from that. Faith becomes a schedule of events, worship becomes the part before the sermon, and prayer becomes something we mean to get to. Jesus' words to the church in Ephesus are gentle but pointed:
"But I have this against you: You have abandoned your first love. Therefore, keep in mind how far you have fallen. Repent and perform the deeds you did at first." (Revelation 2:4-5, BSB)
Perform the deeds you did at first. Go back to what you did when you first met Him, when you sang because you meant it and prayed because you needed to. That is the invitation of a night like this.
Who is MOGmusic?
MOGmusic born Nana Yaw Boakye is a Ghanaian contemporary gospel singer, songwriter, and pastor. He released his debut album, New Wine, in 2016, which earned nominations at the African Gospel Music Awards, and he was named Male Vocalist of the Year at the 2020 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards. Many worshippers will know him from songs like "Be Lifted" and "Elohim".
On stage he is as likely to lift a trumpet as a microphone and his gatherings put the focus on worship itself rather than on performance.
That is the heart of his Praise Aloud nights, multi-night gatherings of uninterrupted praise that are also streamed online for those who can't be in the room.

Worship in spirit and truth
Back to Basics isn't a concert, and that distinction matters. A concert has an audience; worship has a congregation. The difference isn't the music it's who the night is for.
"But a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth, for the Father is seeking such as these to worship Him." (John 4:23, BSB)
It's a striking line: the Father is seeking worshippers. Not performers, not a good crowd, but people who come honestly, in spirit and in truth. You don't need to know every song. You don't need to feel ready. You just need to come.

Before you go
If you're planning to be there in person or online here's a simple way to prepare. Take five minutes this evening and ask yourself: What did my faith look like when it was simple? Maybe it was a song you sang on the way to school or a prayer you prayed every night without fail. Bring that with you.
And if you've felt far from God lately, hear this: going back to the basics isn't going backwards. It's coming home.
Lord, strip away everything that has crowded You out. Bring us back to our first love to worship that is honest, prayer that is real, and a hunger for Your Word. Meet us in Madina and wherever we are watching. Amen.
